Appendix:World/Kirvic language
Kirvic (endonym: პრანთოს კირვეშიშას • pranthos kirveṣiṣas), also known as Classical Kirvic (particularly in contrast with Vulgar Kirvic), is a classical Hirdic language that was historically prominent in the Hirdic Kingdom, including what is now modern-day Radestria, Lusetia and Riyana. It is part of the wider Laenkean language family. Related languages include the Radic languages, Riyan and, more distantly, Laefevian.
Orthography
Classically, the written form of the language did not reflect vowel length, which is marked with a macron in modern markup. Laenktionary follows this approach, in that ჰუას • hūas will link to the page <huas> without macrons, with cited forms including them.
In modern usage, both Radestric and Riyanic mark vowel length diacritically, based on their native systems. Spelling is otherwise retained in Radestric tradition, though Riyanic tradition uses assimilative orthography for Kirvic borrowings in Riyan contexts, such as destas strêkeŗas for დესთას სტრეკეღას • desthas strēkeṛas (“actus reus”).
