From Middle Radestrian kvars, from Old Radestrian kwærs, inherited from Proto-Radic *kwærs, from Proto-Hirdic *kwǽrəs, from Proto-Laenkean *kʼwær(tʰ)æs. Cognate with Ardian kvas, Lusetian cur and Laefevian gwarþ.

Etymology 2

From Middle Radestrian kvars, from Old Radestrian kwars, inherited from Proto-Radic *kwars, of uncertain origin. Speculated cognate with Laefevian kwarga (“raven”), though the initial consonant correspondence is problematic; early borrowing has also been theorised. Ousted in the standard language by valkars due to its conflation with kvars (“bear”).
