From Middle Radestrian hlǿvs, from Old Radestrian hlø̄vre, inherited from Proto-Radic *hęlβir, from Proto-Hirdic *khø̄́lbhis, from Proto-Laenkean *kʰewlbʱes (“wine”). Cognate with Ardian hŷlbs, Lusetian ylbi, Riyan tiolv and Laefevian hølva.
