From Middle Radestrian rēiss, from Old Radestrian rēīr, inherited from Proto-Radic *rējijir, from Proto-Hirdic *rḗḵiḵis, from Proto-Laenkean *rejkekes. Cognate with Laefevian rikus (“cortex”).
