Usage notes
- Hredeșa and all its derivations omit the initial /h/ when modified by a directly preceding definite article.
- The country is the only instance where this is not reflected in orthography (a Hredeșa /a ˈrɛdɛʃa/), cf. a ’rezlieþs; as a result, the word is nowadays almost exclusively pronounced without /h/, even in contexts where it would be necessary, e.g. veniș(-t) Hredeșa (a new Radestria).
- Writing -t after preceding adjectives is proscribed, as the /h/ is still officially pronounced.
