Etymology

From Middle Radestrian dzivhans, from Old Radestrian dziwhænss, inherited from Proto-Radic *dziwhænhs, from *dzæwhs (“horn”) + *-ænhs (collective), equivalent to dzaus + -ans. The name arose due to the time of year being when antlers were typically shed.
