From Old Radestrian Huvôms, inherited from Proto-Radic *Huβôms, from Proto-Hirdic *Khubhɔ̄́məs, *Khubhɔ̄́mənəs (“land by the marsh”), from Proto-Laenkean *kʰobʱawm(an)as. Cognate with Riyan Kuoma and Laefevian hvym (“bog”).
