Etymology

From Middle Radestrian hars, from Old Radestrian hars, inherited from Proto-Radic *hırs (“sunlight”), from Proto-Hirdic *p̄ɯ́ḏɯs (“sun”), from Proto-Laenkean *pɯd-. The word was originally a moribund word for sun, which was reappropriated in scientific usage. Cognate with Riyan fur.
