From Old Radestrian krākŭls, inherited from Proto-Radic *krwākıls (“hedgehog”), from *krwāht (“to sew, to prick, to poke”) + *-kıls, equivalent to krát (“to sew”) + -kus. Cognate with Ardian krôkyls and Lusetian crogil.
