From Middle Radestrian șubura, from Old Radestrian šŭbwor, inherited from Proto-Radic *šıbɣor, from Proto-Hirdic *khjəbghós, from Proto-Laenkean *kʰjabʱgʱós. Doublet of axua (“bison”) and cognate with Laefevian šaoǧu.
