From Old Riyan hair, from Proto-Riyanic *háiră (“moon, month”), from Proto-Hirdic *hɛ̄́ḏəs, from Proto-Laenkean *hæjdas (“moon”). Cognate with Radestrian hjárs (“month”) and Laefevian ea (“moon”).
