From Middle Radestrian lurura, from Old Radestrian rurwor, inherited from Proto-Radic *rurɣor, of uncertain origin, but likely from Proto-Laenkean *swær-. Cognate with Ardian rugo (“anger”) and Lusetian rurğu (“passion”).
