Etymology
From Middle Radestrian gjoavs, from Old Radestrian ɣoals, inherited from Proto-Radic *ɣowals, from Proto-Hirdic *ghəwáləs, *ghowáləs, from Proto-Laenkean *gʱawalas. Cognate with Ardian goval, Lusetian oul and Laefevian ǧauls (“stain, blotch”).
