Etymology

From Middle Radestrian dvașt, from Old Radestrian dwaštt, inherited from Proto-Radic *dwašht, from Proto-Hirdic *ḏuḡóch- (“to awaken, to ring the morning bell”), from Proto-Laenkean *dugócʰ-. Cognate with Riyan zúr (“to wake up”, intransitive) and Laefevian liøsad (“to ring, to toll”).
