Radestrian

Etymology

From Middle Radestrian alura, from Old Radestrian alwor, inherited from Proto-Radic *alɣor, from *alèšir (“autumn”) + *-ɣor (augmentative), equivalent to alșa + -ua. The lack of metathesis in Old Radestrian is likely by analogy with Old Radestrian alešre or influence from Old Lusetian alɣor. The expected reflex would be **voà.

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key)/ˈalu.a/
    • (colloquial) /ˈalwa/
  • Rhymes: -alu.a, -a (58), -alwa
  • Syllabification: a–lu–a, a–lua

Noun

alua inan (countable, genitive singular alvusk, nominative plural alvore, compound form alvu-, alvo-, relational adjective alvuș)

  1. (in-world) The seventh month in the Laefevo-Radestrian calendar, equivalent to the Gregorian days of September 16 to October 15.
  2. (out-of-world) September (the ninth month in the Gregorian calendar)
