Cardinal adjective: aiș | ||
Etymology
From Middle Radestrian ár, from Old Radestrian ār, inherited from Proto-Radic *ār, from Proto-Hirdic *máḡəs, from Proto-Laenkean *magas. The initial m- was lost in Radic by analogy with the ordinal.
Pronunciation
Numeral
- four (4)
- Ven hrâs-aș jø lyejðis.
- I need four people.
- —Byvitú gjøș ran hrâs?
—Ven ív-aș hrâs.- —How many do you need?
—I need four. (noun implied)
- —How many do you need?
Usage notes
- Followed by the short genitive plural.
- The genitive form jø is used before a noun, whereas ív is used on its own.
- Historically, ív was used before vowels, but this usage is now archaic.
