From Middle Radestrian șelt, from Old Radestrian šeltt, inherited from Proto-Radic *šelht, from Proto-Hirdic *c̱el, from Proto-Laenkean *cel-. Cognate with Ardian šelt, Lusetian siell, Riyan șeld and Laefevian selad.
