Etymology

From Middle Radestrian rívs, from Old Radestrian rûvss, inherited from Proto-Radic *rîβhs (“thief”), from Proto-Hirdic *sɯ̄́bhəṯəs (“punished”), from Proto-Laenkean *sɯʔbʱatas. Cognate with Laefevian savat (“blind”).
