Laefevian

Etymology

An old formation, probably from Pre-Proto-Laefevic *aspaðəh (“first sun, first day”), from Proto-Laenkean *ʔas- (“one”) and *pɯd- (“sun”). It is unlikely for the compound to have been formed in Proto-Laenkean already but the presence of *p indicates that it must have been formed before the loss of word-initial *p-.

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /aspai/ [ˈaspai̯]
  • Rhyme: -aspai
  • Hyphenation: as·pai

Noun

aspai (nominative dual aspaend, nominative plural aspaer)

  1. (in-world) The first day of the Laefevian week, except during the thirteenth month, hlwêhda.
  2. (out-of-world) Monday
