From Middle Radestrian șédzz, from Old Radestrian šǫdþro, inherited from Proto-Radic *šǫdθur, from Proto-Hirdic *ṯjɤ̄́ḏthus, from Proto-Laenkean *tjojdtʰos. Cognate with Riyan șaorto (“pen”) and Laefevian seit (“feather”).
