From Middle Radestrian fjukt, from Old Radestrian fjoktt, inherited from Proto-Radic *ɸjokht, from Proto-Hirdic *phjok, from Proto-Laenkean *pʰjokʼ-. Cognate with Riyan [[piogad<t:to bake#Riyan|piogad<t:to bake]] and Laefevian føgad (“to burn”).
