From Middle Radestrian dzauss, from Old Radestrian dzæwss, inherited from Proto-Radic *dzæwhs, from Proto-Hirdic *gǽḇəḵəs, from Proto-Laenkean *ᵑgæbækæs. Cognate with Laefevian ñaus.
