From Middle Radestrian vár, from Old Radestrian vār, inherited from Proto-Radic *βār, from Proto-Hirdic *bháḡəs. from Proto-Laenkean *bʱag-. Cognate with Riyan vaiș (“happy”) and Laefevian vais (“beautiful”).
