From Old Riyan leb, from Proto-Riyanic *lébe, from Proto-Hirdic *lekhwés (“core, nucleus”), from Proto-Laenkean *lĭhkʰwés, a partitive derivation from *læh- (“in”). Cognate with Laefevian lihwe (“into, inside”).
