Riyan
Etymology
From Old Riyan rī́ɣas (“Riyan person”), a borrowing from Old Radestrian rījø̄r (“Riyan person, worshipper of Riya”). The Radestrian exonym was derived as such by the Radestrian belief that the Riyan people worshipped a sky deity, which they likened to Radestrian thunder god Riya. This idea lasted until the mid-18th century when prominent Riyan historians came to different conclusions about the nature of ancient Riyan worship.
