From Old Riyan ŗūŗta, from Proto-Riyanic *ḡuhúḡtă, from Proto-Hirdic *ghɯṯɯ́ḡtəs (“abscission, falling of leaves; ageing, senescence”), from Proto-Laenkean *gʱɯtɯgtʼas (“to fall”).
