From Old Riyan gīvī, from Proto-Riyanic *gíhivihi, from Proto-Hirdic *gíhibhiṯis (“real, true”), from Proto-Laenkean *ᵑgihibʱitis, an adjective deriving from the reflexive pronoun *ᵑgih-, thus likely meaning something like "self-evident".
