From Old Riyan painșmi, from Proto-Riyanic *páins̱mi, from Proto-Hirdic *pɛ̄́nc̱mis (“assembly, gathering”), from Proto-Laenkean *pʼæjncmes (“talk”). Cognate with Laefevian ôbemma (“gathering of elders”).
