From Old Riyan ŗylt, from Proto-Riyanic *ḡýlti, from Proto-Hirdic *ŋýlthis (“head”), from Proto-Laenkean *ŋyltʰys (“turn”). Cognate with Radestrian gĵøþs (“head”) and Laefevian ñilt (“door”).
