Riyan
Etymology
From Old Riyan tavmūst, from Proto-Riyanic *távmūstă (“seventh month”), from Proto-Hirdic *khjábhmɯ̄ztəs (“late summer”), from Proto-Laenkean *kʰjabʱmwujztʼas (“stag rutting season”), from *kʰjabʱ- (“horn”) and *mwujz- (“to bellow”). The development of Old Riyan /v/ into Modern Riyan /r/ was irregular, though it's thought it could be related to Old Riyan dialectal forms taðmūst, though these forms themselves are irregular developments thought to derive from hypercorrection. Cognate with Laefevian šambuhda.
