From Middle Radestrian hǿts, from Old Radestrian hø̄ts, inherited from Proto-Radic *hwēts, from Proto-Hirdic *ḵwḗtəs, from Proto-Laenkean *kweʔtʼas. Cognate with Riyan fír (“holiday”).
