From Middle Radestrian ziuns, from Old Radestrian zijŭns, inherited from Proto-Radic *źijıns, from Proto-Hirdic *zjip̄ɯ́nɯs, from Proto-Laenkean *zjipɯ́nɯs. Cognate with Ardian žins, Lusetian zîn and Laefevian zimpa.
