From Old Riyan leb, from Proto-Riyanic *lébe, from Proto-Hirdic *lehkhwés (“core, nucleus”), from Proto-Laenkean *lĭhkʰwés, a partitive derivation from *læh- (“in”). Cognate with Radestrian leà (“nucleus”) and Laefevian lihwe (“into, inside”).
