TemplateDocumentation.svg Template documentation [view] [edit] [purge]

This template renders a link to a word, similarly to {{m}}, but automatically handles adding categories. It is intended to be used in etymology sections for words that are derived from another language.

If the word is derived via affixation or compounding, consider using {{affix}} instead as it can handle that better. As that covers most scenarios of derivation from other languages, it is rare you will need to use this template so ensure you are using the right one.

This should not be used for words that are directly inherited or borrowed. For those, consider using {{inherited}} ({{inh}}) or {{borrowed}} ({{bor}}).

Usage

From {{der|kil|rad|alșa}}.

Generates:

From Radestrian alșa.

|2= (required)

|3= (required)
Specifies the word that was derived from the origin language.
|4= or |d=

|5= or |t=
Specifies an optional gloss to be displayed with the word link.
|pos=
Specifies an optional part of speech to be displayed with the word link.
|nocat=

Categories

This template automatically adds categories regarding derivation. For example, {{der|kil|rad|alșa}} will automatically add the category "Kilitic terms derived from Radestrian".
