Etymology
From Proto-Laenkean *-iwis.
Pronunciation
Suffix
-o (nominal, heavy vowel-stem)
- Used to form nouns denoting places or spaces from verbs or other nouns, with a very broad semantic meaning.
- navad (“to hunt”) → navo (“hunting area, hunting ground”)
- uššusurvad (“to take refuge”) → uššuso (“refuge, shelter”)
- lahturad (“to host”) → lahturo (“inn, guest house”)
- hwaran (“fire”) → hwarno (“fireplace”)
- ynge (“seed”) → yngio (“granary”)
