TemplateDocumentation.svg Template documentation [view] [edit] [purge]

This template renders a link to a word, similarly to {{m}}, but automatically handles adding categories. It is intended to be used in etymology sections for words that are borrowed from another language.

This should not be used for words that are directly inherited or derived. For those, consider using {{inherited}} ({{inh}}) or {{derived}} ({{der}}).

Usage

From {{borrow|kil|rad|alșa}}.

Generates:

From Radestrian alșa.

Parameters

|1= (required)
Specifies the language code of the language this etymology belongs to. It's the language that borrowed the term.
|2= (required)
Specifies the language code of the language being borrowed from.
|3= (required)
Specifies the word that was borrowed from the origin language.
|4= or |alt=
Specifies an alternative display text for the word link.
|5= or |t=
Specifies an optional gloss to be displayed with the word link.
|pos=
Specifies an optional part of speech to be displayed with the word link.
|nocat=
Stops the template from including any auto-generated categories.

Categories

This template automatically adds categories regarding borrowing. For example, {{borrow|kil|rad|alșa}} will automatically add the category "Kilitic terms borrowed from Radestrian".
