Edit-copy green.svg Documentation for Template:derived. [edit]
This page contains usage information, categories, interwiki links and other content describing the template.

This template renders a link to a word, similarly to {{m}}, but automatically handles adding categories. It is intended to be used in etymology sections for words that are derived from another language.

If the word is derived via affixation or compounding, consider using {{affix}} instead as it can handle that better. As that covers most scenarios of derivation from other languages, it is rare you will need to use this template so ensure you are using the right one.

This should not be used for words that are directly inherited or borrowed. For those, consider using {{inherit}} or {{borrow}}.

Usage

From {{derive|kil|rad|alșa}}.

Generates:

From Radestrian alșa.
