From Middle Radestrian mlajirs, from Old Radestrian mlæɣirre, inherited from Proto-Radic *melhirir, from Proto-Hirdic *mélṯisis (“cabbage”), from Proto-Laenkean *meltisis. Cognate with Ardian melis, Lusetian melliri and Riyan melșe.
