From vat (“eye”) + -is (“-ed”).

Pronunciation

Suffix

-vatis (adjectival, light is-stem)

  1. (in compounds) -eyed, i.e. having the specified kind or number of eyes
    empiš (“brown”) → empivatis (“brown-eyed”)
    amus (“grey”) → amivatis (“grey-eyed”)
