From Old Riyan fișūd, from Proto-Riyanic *fisrwódu, from Proto-Hirdic *p̄isrwóchus, from Proto-Laenkean *pesrwocʰos (“starch”). Cognate with Radestrian hjestraș and Laefevian resus.
