Laefevian

Etymology

Contraction of þienljungêlj (“archaebacterium”), but equivalent to þiem- (“proto-”) + -êlj (agent suffix). Ousted the original term once archaea were considered to be their own domain to distance it from the originally hypernymic domain, bacteria.
